Can is one of the greatest bands to have ever lived. This is not opinion. This is fact. The number of genres they preempted can't be calculated by any one human mind. Where else can you find a free jazz drummer, a guitarist constantly bugging out on shrooms, and a screaming homeless Asian man they found in a bar and hired just cuz? of the classic three Can albums, I have to say Ege Bamyasi isn't up to par with Tago Mago or Future Days. This is perhaps due to the fact Ege Bamyasi is a million times more newbie-friendly than the aforementioned albums. This is definitely the place people want to start with Can. However, this mess of groovy, deranges awesome is one of the best albums in the krautrock canon. The band is just crazy. 4.5/5

I also like how this album was apparently delayed quite a bit because two of the band members were too busy playing chess to record things.

If that's even a valid flaw. They're just so damn good at jamming that they don't want to stop, and who am I to blame them? If I was in a band as good as Can, I'd want to show off too. But "Pinch" probably could've been reduced by a full three minutes without any goodness being lost, and the same goes for many of the songs (only not three minutes, more like a minute). Really, I'm nitpicking here. The band does so many things so well that I'm almost willing to forgive them and just give the album a perfect score. This is definitely a band I'd like to check out in more depth.

Seriously I really fucking love their sound but the thing halting me from really getting into them is I just don't have the patience to handle more than one 10-minute song per album.

Really, I should give the album a 4.5, but I'm resolute in my determination to never use 0.5 scores. Also, Ryth, Kanye West samples "Sing Swan Song" in the much more poetically titled "Drunk And Hot Girls." I can't remember which album it's on.
